Regular Season - Player Selection Process

Introduction

Player Selection System

Cactus Foothills North Little League will use the PLAN B player draft selection method as detailed in the Little League International Operating Manual.

Plan B Draft Method Overview

The Plan B draft occurs in two separate parts. The first part includes those players who:

      • are returning from a Majors team in the same division, AND
      • have registered for the current season

The second part of the draft includes all players who are eligible for selection and have attended the skills evaluations if so required for that age and division.

The Plan B Draft Method is fully detailed in the Little League Operating Manual. League officials and managers should review the Little League Operating Manual to become familiar with Plan B to avoid confusion during the draft.

Key Points on the Plan B Draft Method

There are other details about the Plan B Draft Method that league officials and managers must be aware of.  This section summarizes several key points, but managers and league officials should review the Little League Operating Manual to become familiar with Plan B to avoid confusion during the draft:

    1. Players shall never be told the position in which they were drafted or their scores/ranking in the player agent list of eligible player candidates.
    2. Managers draw numbers to determine who will select the first player and to pick team names. A serpentine draft format will follow to select players. For example, in a four team division, the order is as follows: 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, 3, 2, 1.
    3. Coaches cannot be nominated or named until AFTER the draft is complete.
    4. Coaches (or coach candidates) are not permitted at the draft.
    5. Player agent lists (aka, draft sheets) will not be provided prior to the draft.
    6. All league age 12 players must be drafted into the Majors division.
    7. For the Majors division, returning eligible Majors players will be drafted first. After that, all remaining eligible players will be drafted. For all other divisions, eligible players will be drafted from the player agent list (draft sheet).
    8. Because there are no players returning to a particular team and coaches cannot be named until the draft is completed, options 2 and 4 (under Options On Sons, Daughters, and Siblings) do NOT apply when using the PLAN B draft selection process (review the Little League Operating Manual for more details).
