Introduction
This page contains the local league rules for Cactus Foothills North Little League. The local rules do not replace or supersede Little League International rules, regulations, and/or policies.

Section 1: General
| 1.01: |
The rules stated herein compliment Little League’s official regulations and playing rules for softball. Little League International rules over-ride local rules. All rules and regulations from Little League Softball (from the Little League International Official Regulations and Playing Rules for Softball) apply. |
Section 2: Age
| 2.01: |
A player’s age shall be no less than 9 years and no more than 10 years. Under special circumstances an older or younger player may play with approval from the Player Agent and Board of Directors. |
Section 3: Pitching
| 3.01: |
The distance from home plate to the pitching rubber shall be 35 feet. |
| 3.02: |
Upon a pitcher pitching 4 balls to a batter, a coach shall substitute for the pitcher with the hitter having all remaining strikes. For example, if after the 5th pitch by a player, there have been 4 balls and one strike, the hitter has two strikes remaining with the coach pitching. |
| 3.03: |
No walks shall be allowed. |
Section 4: Field Positions
| 4.01: |
There shall be a maximum of 9 players in the field. |
| 4.02: |
A player shall spend a maximum of 2 innings on the bench. |
| 4.03: |
A player shall spend no more than 1 consecutive inning on the bench. |
Section 5: Play
| 5.01: |
Minors league shall be considered a developmental league and as such, rankings shall not be maintained. |
| 5.02: |
The game shall be officiated by the coaches. |
| 5.03: |
The home team shall provide two game balls. |
| 5.04: | All balls shall be 11” regulation softballs. |
| 5.05: | A game shall be no more than 6 innings. |
| 5.06: | An inning shall not begin later than 1 hour and 40 minutes after the game’s start time. |
| 5.07: | Each team’s batting order shall consist of all players present for the game; i.e., all players bat. |
| 5.08: | Players arriving after the game has begun shall be placed at the bottom of the batting order. |
| 5.09: | A "side" is retired in accordance with Little League Rule 5.07 for Minor League divisions, which are divisions between Tee Ball and Majors. A side is retired when:
IMPORTANT NOTE: Only 5 runs count at any time in any inning. Extra runs scored as a result of any ongoing play are NOT counted - - just the 5 runs that have scored only. |
| 5.10: | The Little League “Mercy Rule” shall be in effect upon the completion of 4 innings. |
| 5.11: | A baserunner may attempt to steal a base upon a pitched ball crossing home plate. |
| 5.12: | Leading off of bases shall not be allowed. |
| 5.13: | Until such time as an umpire calls time-out, the ball shall be considered in play. |
| 5.14: | For any overthrow that remains in the field of play, a baserunner may advance as many bases as she chooses at her own risk. |
| 5.15: | A maximum of 2 coaches shall be allowed on the field of play. |
| 5.16: |
Any batted or thrown ball that strikes a coach in the field of play field shall be considered a live ball. |
| 5.17: |
Official scorekeeping shall not be required, but unofficial scorekeeping shall be required for the purposes of determining if the “Mercy Rule” applies. |
