The Cactus Foothills North Little League All-Star team selection process is multifaceted and is designed to be as objective and fair as possible and ensure that that best possible managers and coaches are selected for the All-Star teams.

Manager and Coach Eligibility Requirements

The selection of the coaching staff is a very important step in the process. In order to be selected to manage or coach a team, the candidate must meet the eligibility requirements as specified by Little League in the Tournament Rules and Guidelines (in the Official Regulations and Playing Rules handbook):

Expectations

Cactus Foothills North Little League expects nothing but the best from our managers and coaches. Given the important role that managers and coaches play in the development and leadership of youth in the Cactus Foothills North Little League program, much care is used in the review, vetting, and selection of managers and coaches for Cactus Foothills North teams. While not all inclusive, the League has these base expectations for all managers and coaches.

Managers and coaches:

• Must encourage players at all times and will not damage the self-esteem of any player or parent at any time
• Understand that becoming "physical" (grabbing, pushing, hitting, physical or verbal intimidation, etc)  with any player, parent, league official, opposing coaching staff, spectator, or umpire is not acceptable at any time - - such actions are grounds for serious consequences up to immediate removal as a manager or assistant coach.
  
• Will have undergone the standard Little League required background check
  
• Have open, productive and strong relationships with the League, Cactus Foothills North Board of Directors, parents, and umpires at all times
• Demonstrate that they have an appreciation of the philosophy of Little League and Cactus Foothills North Little League and cooperates with others in making the program of mutual benefit to all children in the program.

• Recognize that they are agents of the Board and will follow the Board’s lead, philosophy, and advance the agenda for the League as set forth by the Board.
• Recognize and accept that Cactus Foothills North Little League has a zero tolerance policy for rules and regulations infractions and non-compliance with League code of conduct and facility use policies
• Attend all mandatory coaching and safety clinics - no exceptions
• Lead by example in shaping acceptable behavior patterns whether the team wins or loses.
• Have a solid understanding and agree to comply with all Cactus Foothills North, Little League, and CCUSD rules, regulations, and code of conduct policies
• Reflect an understanding and appreciation of the age group they supervise
• Has experience in managing and/or coaching baseball (or softball if being considered for softball) at the level in which the candidate is being considered
• Respect the judgment and the position of authority of the umpire.
• Exercise their leadership role, but leave the outcome of the ball game in the hands of the players.

Manager and Coach Selection Process

If the candidate meets the eligibility requirements, the All-Star team manager and coach selection process is as follows: All-Star Team Manager Candidates for manager nominate themselves indicating their qualifications (years of experience, coaching/managing levels, approach to managing/coaching) The All-Star Selection Committee reviews all candidates and discuss candidates with the League President. Similiar to the regular season selection process for managers, the League President nominates the managers to the Board. The Board of Directors vote on the manager. The manager is approved or denied by majority vote of the Board of Directors. NOTE: If the nominee is not approved, this step in the coaching staff selection process begins again and more candidates are reviewed The Cactus Foothills North Board of Directors will communicate the name of the All-star team manager to the League membership. All-Star Team Assistant Coach(es) The All-Star team manager and Selection Committee jointly nominate assistant coaches for the team Assistant coach candidates will provide their qualifications (years of experience, coaching/managing levels, approach to managing/coaching) to the All-Star Selection Committee for review The All-Star Selection Committee reviews all candidates and discuss candidates with the League President. Similiar to the regular season selection process for assistant coaches, the League President nominates the manager to the Board. The Board of Directors vote on the manager. The manager is approved or denied by majority vote of the Board of Directors. NOTE: If the nominee is not approved, this step in the coaching staff selection process begins again and more candidates are reviewed The Cactus Foothills North Board of Directors will communicate the name of All-star team assistant coaches to the League membership.
